Career

Charlotte Elger-Günther was born in Hamburg and completed her Abitur at the Theodor-Heuss-Schule in Pinneberg.

She studied law at the University of Hamburg with a focus on "crime and crime control". Her legal traineeship (Referendariat) was completed at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court (Hanseatisches Oberlandesgericht), with stations including the public prosecution office (Staatsanwaltschaft) Hamburg, the Billwerder prison (JVA Billwerder), the firm H/T Dr. Hennig & Thum Strafverteidiger, and the firm Getzmann, Meyer-Abich und Elek.

Since being admitted to the bar as a Rechtsanwältin in Hamburg, she has worked in an office-sharing arrangement (Bürogemeinschaft) with Virginia von Burgsdorff at Hanse Strafrecht since June 2022. The two lawyers share premises but conduct separate practices with separate mandates and separate liability.
