Virginia Elisabeth von Burgsdorff is a native of Hamburg and holds dual German and Swiss citizenship. She attended the International School of Hamburg and spent a school year at St. Anne's-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Virginia (USA).
She studied law at the University of Hamburg. Her legal traineeship (Referendariat) took her to the Regional Court (Landgericht) Rostock, with stations including the Local Court (Amtsgericht) Schwerin, the Ministry for Digitalisation of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the firm Laudon Schneider.
On being admitted to the bar as a Rechtsanwältin in Hamburg, she founded the firm Hanse Strafrecht and completed a specialist training in criminal law. She conducts the defence in German, English and French.
